One of Scotland’s largest business awards programmes, the ROCCO Awards, has raised the amazing sum of £6000 for Adams House in Elderslie.
Adams House is run by the charity Crossreach and provides a valuable specialist residential service for people affected by severe dementia. With 26 single and 2 double rooms, Adams House looks after people that, through dementia, have reached a point in their lives where it is impossible for them to continue living safely at home or in another residential setting.
43 staff provide a round the clock programme of care, activities and outings, ensuring that people suffering from this difficult illness are provided with the very highest standards of specialist support and attention.
The environment is designed to be as close to normal life as possible, and includes close family involvement, regular clubs, hairdresser and shop.
Given the need for financial support, Tom Johnston, President of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, which runs the annual ROCCO Awards, was delighted to hand over a cheque today for £6000. All the money was raised on the night of the Awards, which were held on Friday 9th November at the Normandy Hotel. The Chamber of Commerce has also added free membership for a year (worth £141) and Kevin Keegan, who runs Soccer Circus at Xscape, Braehead, added a further £500 as a personal donation on the night.
Commenting, Laura Mills, Events Manager said: “It was a fantastic night celebrating the best of business in Renfrewshire and I am very very pleased that the audience of 500 effectively raised more than £10 per head for Adams House. The ROCCO Awards has established a reputation for generosity and I am pleased that this year has helped a very deserving cause.”
John McDaid, Manager of Adams House added: “We are overwhelmed with the generosity of the ROCCO Awards and are enormously grateful to the Chamber of Commerce for organising the event and the donation. From all of our staff and residents – may I say a big ‘thank you’!
