DIAGEO RESTRUCTURING AND INVESTMENT

Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce has extended its full support to the staff being made redundant at the Diageo packaging plant in Shieldhall and to the company as it begins the difficult process of restructuring in a highly competitive market.

Tom Johnston, President of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce said: “The staff affected have our full sympathy and the Chamber will do everything it can to support them wherever possible.  We will, for example encourage our members to share any vacancies with us which we will then publicise on our website.”

“We would also like to offer Diageo our full support as the company embarks on a major restructuring and investment programme.  That programme is designed to ensure the business is positioned to compete in the tough global drinks sector and includes additional investment for Shieldhall, which is good news for the facility.  Diageo is a major business and employer in Renfrewshire and as such is highly valued by the local community.    We extend to the company and its staff our best wishes during this difficult period.”
