First Aid at Work Requalification Course (12 hrs / 2 days)

Overview

This course provides renewal of First Aid at Work Certification before its three-year expiry date. The course is designed to refresh the First Aiders knowledge of first aid procedures and allows instruction on updated practices and guidelines. On successful completion of an assessment, the delegate will be awarded a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Approved First Aid at Work Certificate.

This training should be repeated every 3 years and delegates should hold a current HSE Approved First Aid at Work Certificate, which should be valid up to the last day of the refresher training (+ extension of 28 days max).

Prerequisites to Training

This course is suitable for designated First Aiders holding current First Aid at Work credentials, under the Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981

Resuscitation: Practical Work
Asphyxiation
Wounds and Bleeding
Strains and Sprains

Burns and Scalds
Poisons
Allergies and Allergic Reactions
Causes of Unconsciousness
Regulations and Legislation

Day Two

Reporting of accidents (RIDDOR)
Prevention of Accidents / Accident Books
Theoretical and practical revision
First Aid Examination
Results of Examination
Discussion and Assessment of Course

Certification

On successful completion of assessment an HSE Approved First Aid at Work Certificate of Competence is awarded which is valid for 3 years (+28 day extension period).

Teaching Methods

Training materials used include PowerPoint presentations, DVD presentations, first aid manuals, first aid workbooks, first responder training packs, group work with flip charts and scenario work.
Candidates are encouraged to participate fully in the course and discussion of work place situations is encouraged.
