Policy Event with Renfrewshire Chamber and Scottish Chambers
of Commerce

8am - 10am
Thursday 2nd September 2010
The Normandy Hotel

The need to tackle the budget deficit and consequent restrictions on public spending at a local, Scottish RCoC Logoand UK level means that government is looking towards the private sector as never before in order to grow our economy and assist in the effective delivery of services. This gives each and every business in Scotland a stronger hand in terms of our influenceSCC Logo with government and opening up new opportunities to win public contracts. As such, these policy events are an opportunity for members to shape not just the Chambers policy platform over the next few years but also to influence the future direction of government in Scotland. Alongside the opportunities there are also challenges - we need to ensure that government maintains a focus on the basics that keep business competitive, such as transport, skills, digital communications, energy and economic development.

With Scottish Parliament elections in 8 months time and local council elections in 2012, this is the opportunity for Chamber members to influence Scotland's economic future at a key turning point in our history. Each and every business can make a difference.

Areas to discuss include:

• Transport

• Skills and education

• Energy

• Economic development

• Digital connectivity / Broadband

• Planning and development

• Public procurement

• Government spending and tax

• Regulation

Members who have views on any or all of the above are encouraged to attend - your opinion counts. Comments and feedback at the event will be captured / sent to Scottish Chambers. The event will be facilitated by SCC.

This is a free event / breakfast & refreshments will be available
