Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce President, Tom Johnston today said "we are very disappointed that SPT have decided to scrap the Renfrew Ferry. For 200 years ferries have taken passengers across the Clyde at this location. Yes, numbers have been going down but rather than scrap the service - why not investigate ways to increase the numbers? Stopping the service will mean increased congestion on roads and additional travelling time for many residents and workers either side of the Clyde. With Braehead so close, the Southern General nearby and the amount of new and planned residential / business development in the area, surely there is an opportunity to alter the route - a pilot at least would have been worthwhile, including using 1 ferry instead of 2. We urge SPT to reconsider".
