Renfrewshire received a major boost last night when the Howden Group, the fast-growing engineering company, won the National Business of the Year in the British Chambers of Commerc
e Awards.
The accountancy firm Campbell Dallas LLP took second place in the ‘Excellence in People’ category, marking a great night for Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce businesses.
Scottish entrants took a quarter of first places and a fifth of all places in one of Britain’s most competitive business awards.
Bob Cleland, Chief Executive of Howden's said: "Given Howden's long history as an engineering company founded here in the west of Scotland 155 years ago, I'm especially proud on behalf of all our employees to have won this national UK award".
Tom Johnston, President of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is a great result for Howden Group and for Campbell Dallas. We are delighted for the companies and for their success. Winning against the best of British business is a major achievement, and reflects the calibre of businesses we have in Renfrewshire.
