SCC WELCOMES CONTINUED BUSINESS RATE PARITY  

Welcoming the decision by the Scottish Government to continue to match the English Business Rate poundage in 2010/11, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:  

"This is a very welcome decision indeed from the Scottish Government to continue to peg Scottish Business Rates to the English poundage rate for a further year.  The business community in Scotland fully understand the financial strictures under which the Scottish Government and our local authorities are working, and against this background it is very good news that the Government is continuing to invest to help create an environment in which Scottish firms can develop a positive competitive advantage.  

"It is this kind of vision and understanding that we need to foster between Government and business in order to achieve our common goal of giving Scottish business the tools to grow and create the wealth necessary to address our economic and social needs."
