Tour operator Balkan Holidays and Glasgow Airport mark a partnership this year that goes back half a century.
Balkan Holidays is one of the airport’s oldest partners and over the course of five decades more than 500,000 Scots passengers have travelled between Glasgow and Bulgaria.
Almost 8000 passengers travelled with Balkan Holidays to Burgas and the various resorts on the Black Sea coast this summer, while in previous years the independent tour operator has also offered services to Sofia and Varna from Glasgow Airport.
Paul White, Glasgow Airport’s Head of Aviation, said: “We’re tremendously proud of our long association with Balkan Holidays. Bulgaria remains a popular holiday destination with Scots travellers and as one of the leading independent tour operators, Balkan Holidays continues to serve our passengers with a fantastic and often tailored service.”
London-based Balkan Holidays has been in existence for 53 years and is a tour operator specialising in holidays to Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Romania.
Louise Newton, Head of Marketing at Balkan Holidays, said: “We are all so pleased to be celebrating the milestone of the 50th anniversary of flying from Glasgow Airport.
“It’s been a privilege to work with Glasgow Airport to serve the local community over the last five decades. We are already on sale for 2020 for holidays direct to Bulgaria, so we hope this is the start of another 50 years of a safe and successful partnership.”
