An impressive one thousand two hundred and ten pounds was raised by over 200 cyclists at this year’s Pedal the Park Sportive organised by Community Cycling Club Ride 63 in partnership with Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.

Katie Grier, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager for Inverclyde, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire & the Scottish Borders said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by local support to CLIC Sargent at this year’s Pedal the Park. It was fantastic to see so many cyclists turn up for the challenge and it was great to see such an engagement with the charity. The event raised £1210 which was over and above what we were expecting.
To put things into perspective; £300 could pay for an average family stay of 11 days in a Home from Home – close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment. So the Pedal the Park total could provide this service to 4 families, which is absolutely amazing!”
David Gatherer, Regional Park Manager said “The Regional Park was delighted to work in partnership with Ride 63 and CLIC Sargent and see so many folk out on their bikes on what was a lovely sunny Sunday. As well as the fund raising benefit, the ride highlighted some of the cycling options available in the area, plans are progressing to look at more off-road opportunities as well.
Fiona Hewitt, Chair of Ride 63 Community Cycle Club said “We were so pleased so have the support of the Regional Park with the planning and marshalling the ride, the positive feedback we have had from the riders is very encouraging and we aim to organise another Pedal the Park Sportive on Sunday 23 April 2017. In the meantime we are organising a mountain bike mini XC on Sat 11 June at Muirshiel Country Park, online booking is now open.
