EasyJet Continues Scottish Expansion with Launch of Glasgow – Bordeaux Route

Chamber News 30th June 2015

easyJet, Europe’s leading and Scotland’s largest airline, has expanded its Scottish network with the launch of flights from Glasgow Airport to Bordeaux. The new summer service, which is expected to carry 9,000 passengers in the first summer of operation, is Glasgow’s first direct connection to Bordeaux and operates twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. Fares start from £30.99 one way per person. The airline already flies to Bordeaux from Bristol, Liverpool, Belfast, London Gatwick and Luton.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s Head of Scotland, said: “As Scotland’s largest airline we are pleased to further strengthen our network with the launch of services to Bordeaux. We believe that this, as well as our other new routes from Scotland, will prove popular additions to our existing network.

Francois Bourienne, commercial director at Glasgow Airport, said: “Bordeaux is a fantastic new addition to the long list of destinations easyJet serves from Glasgow, and it’s sure to go down a treat with Scottish tourists, as well as French residents looking to visit Scotland.

“The port city of Bordeaux offers direct access to France’s renowned and established wine region, and the historic quarter is on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding 18th century architecture. It is also within easy reach seaside resorts such as Arcachon and Cap Ferrat and also the Basque country which is famous for its beautiful Biscay Bay coastline and its five-day Fêtes de Bayonne in July.

“We look forward to working closely with the easyJet team to ensure the success of this fantastic new route.”
