In this practical session, bto’s David Hoey (a visiting professor in Employment Law and regular Chamber member) will present a summary of the key issues in relation to employment law that are relevant to your business. The session is aimed at all businesses which employ staff or plan to do so. The session will consider:

·What do I need to think about before employing staff?

·Do I need to bother about a written contract of employment?

·What types of claims can employees raise?

·How do I protect the business against claims by employees?

·Is social networking something I should worry about?

·How do I get the best from my staff?

Employment law is changing all the time with developments in legislation and case law almost on a daily basis. There is often no limit on the awards of compensation following many employment related claims. If your organisation has staff or is likely to have staff, this session is not to be missed.
