John G Russell (Transport) Ltd, one of Scotland’s leading logistics companies, has been granted Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
AEO, an internationally recognised quality mark, indicates that a company’s role in the supply chain is secure and reliable, and that its customs controls are efficient, compliant and meet EU standards.
Russell was awarded AEO status after a five-month review process by HMRC, which included an audit of the company’s internal controls and procedures, customs records, systems and IT security.
The AEO accreditation applies to Russell’s International trade activity which is focused at the company’s Hillington, Glasgow site. Gaining AEO accreditation brings numerous benefits to Russell and its customers, including simplified customs procedures, the right to ‘fast-track’ shipments with fewer physical and document-based controls, priority treatment in case of selection for customs control and improved relations with Customs and other Government authorities.
James Carberry, HMRC Compliance Director at John G Russell (Transport) Ltd said: “Our company is dedicated to delivering robust logistics solutions. Gaining AEO accreditation strengthens our ability to proactively manage the supply chain, thus further enabling our customers to focus on their core activities.”
