John McGuire
Phoenix Car Company
John McGuire is the Managing Director of the award-winning Phoenix Car Company, comprising Phoenix Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Suzuki, Kia, Motown, BMW, MINI, and more recently, Hyundai.
Originating as Phoenix Honda, the company commenced trading in 1993 at Phoenix Retail Park.
Prior to establishing Phoenix, John McGuire gained extensive experience in the industry including sales and managerial positions with Arnold Clark and the Ian Skelly Group. Further experience was gained at Nissan UK, where he held the position of Regional Director, with responsibility for 13 sites.
Phoenix Honda quickly became the UK's number one volume retailer after only 2 years in operation, and after a further 2 years, became the biggest volume retailer in Europe.
- 1997 - Phoenix acquired a six-acre site, adjacent to Phoenix Honda.
- 1998 - Phoenix Honda ranked as the fastest growing, privately owned company in Scotland. The Dun and Bradstreet survey rated the company as 51st in the UK Top 100, the highest placed automotive dealer.
- 1999 - Phoenix Honda expanded and opened for business in Falkirk.
- 2001 - Phoenix Suzuki opened for business and within the first two months provided record-breaking statistics for a new start dealership.
- 2003 - Phoenix Kia launched in Paisley and a four showroom complex purchased in Stirling.
- 2004 - Phoenix Mazda opened for business, rapidly followed by Phoenix Honda Stirling.
- 2006 - Phoenix Kia and Phoenix Suzuki established in Glasgow’s Southside, Aikenhead Road, Glasgow
- 2006 - Phoenix launch BMW and MINI in Kirkcaldy.
- 2006 - Phoenix Honda Falkirk relocates to larger premises.
- 2006 - Phoenix Honda Stirling moves to a larger showroom.
- 2006 - Phoenix Suzuki Stirling is established.
- 2007 - Phoenix Kia awarded World Kia Dealer of the Year.
- 2007 - Phoenix Honda retail motorcycles.
- 2007 - Phoenix Mitsubishi Stirling is established.
- 2007 - Phoenix Honda acquires Hyndland Honda and Phoenix Honda Hyndland established
- 2007- Phoenix Hyundai Paisley is established With plans to add new sites to the network, Phoenix is set for further expansion.
John McGuire is renowned for his support of local charities and the sponsorship of many sporting initiatives.
