IQA Makes New Link As Corporate Sponsor

iqaThursday 17th November 2011

IQA Group is delighted to announce its decision to become corporate sponsor of the charity Link Community Development.

The Paisley based electrical contracting company regularly supports charities through employee fundraisers however, the decision to support Link follows on from Chairman David Gowans’ recent charity cycle across Malawi. Organised by Link Community Development, the Malawi Bike Ride embarks on a 370km cycle across the country to raise valuable funds to help improve access to quality education.

As corporate sponsors, IQA is set to support Link in many different ways from charity fundraisers and event support to brand awareness.  The Company is also looking to support The Link Schools Programme, which offers local schools here in Scotland the chance to form a partnership with a rural school in Africa. The Link Schools Programme is an excellent way of introducing a global dimension to teaching and learning within our schools by encouraging pupils and the community to learn about school and community life in rural sub-Saharan Africa.

Following on from David Gowans’ successful fundraiser to Malawi earlier this year, IQA Group is also delighted to announce that it will sponsor one of its employees to take part in the Malawi Bike Ride 2012.

Chairman David Gowans said “IQA is proud to become corporate sponsor of Link. I saw firsthand the condition of the schools and classrooms and, after my trip out there earlier this year, I wanted to continue to support Link’s commitment to improving access to, and the quality of, education for children and young people in rural Africa. As well as becoming corporate sponsors, we have decided to sponsor one of our employees to represent IQA on the Malawi Bike Ride 2012. One lucky staff member will have the chance to embark on this amazing adventure whilst raising well needed funds to support Link’s incredible work.”

Link’s Programme Director Dr Samantha Ross added “We are delighted that IQA have decided to become our corporate sponsor. David was able to experience the challenges rural Malawians face with something as simple as learning in school where there might be as many as 300 children in one classroom, with no desks to sit at or books to learn from. Link carries out important work in supporting local government and community groups to improve the quality of education within the constraints of the resources available; IQA’s support will make a significant impact on improving the quality of education for young children in rural Malawi. On behalf of Link and all our partners, we are delighted to have IQA on board”.
