btoFamily Law Partner Joins bto

Wednesday 7th December 2011

bto is delighted to announce that Cath Karlin, a leading family law specialist in Scotland and formerly a Partner at HBJ Gateley, joined the firm as a Partner in bto’s Edinburgh office on 5 December 2011.

Cath is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in both child and family law. She focuses on high net worth financial cases, often with an international dimension, and has worked on numerous significant cases ranging up to values of £60 million.

A trained mediator and founder member of the collaborative movement in Scotland, Cath sits as a director of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Cath’s specialist skills in collaborative law and her status as a “leading individual” in her field (Chambers UK) make her an ideal addition to bto’s existing private client team.

btoCath, who is praised for her intelligence, focus and energy, has recently become a Director of Relationships Scotland.  She is a member of the Law Society of Scotland Family Law Committee and the Family Law Association. Cath is also co-editor of Family Law Bulletin and makes regular media appearances.

Willie Young, bto’s Chairman, said: “Cath’s arrival is great news for bto. Cath’s passion for resolving family disputes with dignity and respect is widely recognised and we are pleased to be in a position to offer her bespoke advice to our clients.”
