UWS has jumped ten places in The Complete University Guide rankings for 2020, one of the most-trusted and independent rankings for UK universities.
UWS climbs from 114th to 104th in the UK, with the rankings judged on a variety of measures including student satisfaction, graduate prospects, student support facilities and research quality.
This rise means UWS ranks as one of the most notable climbers this year, having made great strides in student satisfaction, degree completion and graduate prospects.
Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal and Vice-Chancellor at UWS, said: “We have placed significant emphasis on supporting our students – drawn from diverse backgrounds – to succeed while at University and to offer them opportunities to secure graduate-level employment. The excellent rise in the Complete University Guide is a recognition of our students’ success in which the whole University can be rightly proud.”
The Complete University Guide shows an 8.5 percentage point increase in UWS’ graduate prospects from 2019 to 2020 – a significant increase in the success of our graduates in securing graduate-level employment or entering further study.
The percentage of students continuing their studies after their first year at UWS has also significantly increased in recent years.
The Complete University Guide ranking comes off the back of UWS being acknowledged for having one of the most sustainable and inspiring higher education buildings in the UK at the Guardian’s University Awards last month. The award recognised a £110m investment in the university’s new Lanarkshire campus, which opened in summer 2018.
