Renfrewshire Chamber was delighted to be able to present our Rocco Fund charities St. Vincent’s Hospice and Paisley’s YMCA with donations towards their brilliant work in caring for those who need it most by offering specialist palliative care for individuals and families affected by life limiting conditions, as well as supporting and developing young people at the heart of our community to reach their full potential through education and developing creative abilities.
Chief Executive of St. Vincent’s Hospice, Kate Lennon, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to the Renfrewshire Chamber and everyone involved in helping to raise such a fantastic sum of money for our services. This £4,000 will make such a positive difference to so many people throughout our community who are going through some of the most difficult times of their lives, and we cannot than everyone enough for all their support.
“For more than 30 years, St. Vincent’s has been providing specialist palliative and Hospice care for people and families affected by life-limiting conditions. This is carried out in a number of ways, from our Inpatient Unit, Day Services and even in the comfort of people’s own homes throughout the community. It is no exaggeration to say that all of this is only possible thanks to extremely generous donations just like this one. On behalf of all of us at St. Vincent’s Hospice: thank you!”
Moreover, Paisley YMCA provide exceptional support for young people within the Renfrewshire area and are dedicated to develop and encourag the youth within the local community to reach their full potential through digitally based cultural and educational programmes. Their newest initiative is to establish Renfrewshire’s first digital fabrication studio, a DIY environment where young people can gather to create, invent and learn to use digital technology with encouragement to build and design consumer products. This will include creative art installations and fun engineering builds, using 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and engraver machines that encourage conception thinking in line with extra curriculum STEM (science, technology, engineering & maths) subjects.
Darran from Paisley’s YMCA has commented, “Thanks to Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce for this donation towards a high end laser cutter for young people across Renfrewshire to develop their enterprise skills through technology learning design and manufacturing in the Paisley YMCA Makerspace.”
Both charities do exceptional work providing support, care and encouraging development within our community and it is an honour to be able to support them in any way we can.
