Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce has a key role to play in articulating the views of our members to policy makers and decision makers in local government, Scottish government and national government. Our credibility comes from the fact that we are an independent and apolitical membership based organisation.
We influence policy in a number of ways:
- Locally we have a good relationship with local councillors, MSPs and MPs, and throughout the year we have regular meetings highlighting issues of importance to local businesses.
- Through Scottish Chambers of Commerce we remain close to the decision making process at Holyrood. SCC has a key role in influencing policy and actively lobby on behalf of our members. Responding to government consultations is an important part of Scottish Chambers policy work.
- Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce is an accredited member of the British Chambers of Commerce and as the national voice of the 100,000 companies that are members, BCC has a huge role to play in influencing national policy. The BCC quarterly economic survey is the largest of its kind in the UK and is used by the Bank of England in their monthly report. See BCC Policy page, which gives details of current consultations.
