Vote for Ronald McDonald House Glasgow Families!

Member News 18th July 2019

Ronald McDonald House Glasgow are excited to have been chosen as one of three charities in the West of Scotland who will receive a donation from Scotmid of a minimum £5,000 from their Community Connect fund BUT you could help make this £15,000!

The group with the most votes will receive £15,000 and the two runners-up will each receive £5,000. Ronald McDonald House Glasgow are up against Strathcarron Hospice and The Haven.

The Community Connect funding that Ronald McDonald House Glasgow will receive will be used to refurbish a bedroom to make it accessible and suitable to meet the different needs of families. £5,000 will allow them to update the bathroom facilities in one of the 31 en-suite rooms but the full £15,000 would allow them to completely renovate a bedroom to a high-quality standard and give families a more comfortable ‘home away from home’ whilst facing a truly traumatic time.

The Ronald McDonald House Glasgow is an independent Scottish charity. With no government funding, it relies solely on the kindness and generosity of donors and fundraisers to keep the doors of the House open, to provide families with a welcoming ‘home away from home’.

As an independent Scottish charity, Ronald McDonald House Glasgow rely solely on fundraising to raise the £650,000 needed each year to provide a free ‘home from home’ for over 550 families who travel from across Scotland and often further afield to receive the vital, specialist care their child needs. Based just minutes from the wards, the house is more than just a roof over a family’s head – it is a safe base close by their sick child with creature comforts and the invaluable support of other families living through similar situations.
