Preparing For and Responding to Coronavirus

A new helpline has been launched to supply Scottish businesses with tailored advice on coronavirus.

It will be open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:30, based at Scottish Enterprise’s call centre in Clydebank.

Call handlers will answer questions from businesses related to Covid-19 as well as relaying the challenges faced by businesses to the Scottish government.

It comes as the UK enters the second phase of virus management.

The helpline number is 0300 303 0660

These sites can help you prepare and manage your business for the impact of COVID-19.


For the latest information and advice, UK employers and business owners should visit the official guidance for employers and businesses. Businesses should check for daily updates and subscribe to receive email alerts to ensure they are acting on the most up to date information.

Information includes:

Stay at home guidance for people with confirmed or possible Coronavirus infection.

Guidance on advice to provide to staff including:

  • how to help prevent spread of Coronavirus;
  • what to do if someone suspected or confirmed to have Coronavirus has been in a workplace setting;
  • advice to give to individuals who have travelled to specific areas; and
  • advice for the certification of absence from work resulting from Coronavirus.

Information on the support available to businesses impacted by Coronavirus.

ACAS has published information for employees and employers, including information on simple steps to help protect the health and safety of staff, sick pay and absence from work.

A number of private lenders are also making funds available to small businesses impacted by Coronavirus, including £2 billion from Lloyds Banking Group and £5 billion from NatWest.

The UK government is also advising businesses to:

  • build their own resilience by reviewing their business continuity; and
  • develop an understanding on the potential impacts to their supply chains, customers or other factors critical to their operations.
