The introduction of this new direct link enhances leisure and business travel options for passengers across Scotland, while also offering visitors from Germany an additional gateway into Glasgow and the wider region.
Chris Tibbett, Aviation Director at AGS Airports, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Eurowings back to Glasgow Airport. As the only route between Scotland and the historic German city of Hanover I’m confident the route will appeal to German holiday makers keen to lace up their walking boots and explore the rugged beauty of Scotland, whilst linking two dynamic and historic city break gems.
“The addition of Eurowings further strengthens our valued relationship with the Lufthansa Group, and underscores our commitment to enhancing connectivity for our passengers and the region.”
Reinald Frankewitz, Head of Airport & Network Relations at Eurowings, said: “We’re thrilled to bring a direct connection from Glasgow to Hanover, offering passengers a fast and convenient way to reach Lower Saxony’s vibrant capital.
“Whether travelling for business, culture, or leisure, this new route opens up exciting opportunities for city breaks, events, and exploring the wider region. With this service, we are also strengthening the links between the UK and Germany, making travel between our two countries easier.”
Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “This is great news for tourists and business travellers alike. Scotland has long been hugely popular with German visitors, with Glasgow offering both a gateway to the Highlands and Islands and an opportunity to experience our cultured, vibrant and exciting city.
“It also provides Glasgow with a direct route into one of our key markets and sources of inward investment. Congratulations to our partners at the Airport and to Eurowings for reaffirming Glasgow’s standing as a global and connected destination. This is a wonderful example of how the attractions of Scotland’s biggest city can bring such investment to Glasgow.”
Denise Hill, VisitScotland’s Head of Business Development and Intermediary Marketing said: “German visitors make up our single largest European market for inbound tourism to Scotland. They are highly valued as long-staying visitors, who love to explore and who spread their spend from the cities to the furthest flung corners of Scotland.
“As a market of many major cities, we are delighted to see Eurowings opening up Hannover as an important new gateway to Glasgow and wider Scotland for visitors from the north of Germany.
“The German people took Scotland to their hearts during the Euros in 2024 and interest in travel to Scotland soared. We hope that news of this new route will stimulate a similar reaction among the people of Hanover and the north of Germany.”
Flights will be available to book at eurowings.com with prices starting at £34.99.
