Apt Renfrewshire Project: Free training sessions for local employers

SUSE is hosting several free training sessions for Renfrewshire based employers over the coming months as part of the Apt Renfrewshire Project. We are aiming to upskill the employer’s ability to attract, recruit and retain disabled workers.

Tues 29 July NeurodiversityWorks! Bitesize Training
This session will increase your understanding of the diverse capabilities and skill-sets neurodivergent people can bring to the workforce. Build your knowledge of inclusive ways of working and the simple adjustments you can make. Build confidence in recruiting, managing and retaining neurodivergent staff. This session will take place at 10.30-13.00.
Tues 5th Aug Wellbeing at Work – Where to start? 10am-12pm
Delegates will learn what Wellbeing is and why it is important for organisations to put wellbeing at the core of their business strategy. Delegates will be introduced to an overview of the PERMA Model and how to create a wellbeing culture within their organisation. The workshop will provide delegates with tried and tested techniques for having wellbeing conversations with their colleagues.
Wed 13th Aug An introduction to chronic pain and self-management 10am-12pm
This introductory session will look at the big picture of chronic pain and self-management. We will look at how pain works, dispel some myths and focus on the idea that pain is a whole person’s experience, not just a clinical condition. We will look at the issues that drive pain and outline the main principles of pain management.
Thurs 14th Aug Men and Mental Health – The Stigma Challenge 10am-12pm
This session Explains the facts about men’s mental health and resources and tips for looking after your mental health. Why do we need to talk about mental health? Mental health and stigma. Signs and signals to be more aware of poor mental health.
Tues 19th Aug How to be a Confident Employer and Service Provider 10am-12pm
Gain an understanding of your legal responsibilities and how to confidently support people with vision impairments as a service provider or employer.
Wed 27th Aug Managing Arthritis and MSK in the Workplace 10am-12pm
This session will increase your knowledge of incidence and impact of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions (MSK) within work. We will provide you with an understanding and application of rights, reasonable adjustments, good practice in supporting staff living with arthritis or MSK, workplace solutions, principles of Self-management, promoting good MSK health and related information resources. This session will help employers support their employees to work well with their condition.

What is Apt Renfrewshire?
Apt Renfrewshire is a programme, led by SUSE, to make workplaces more inclusive for disabled people. Funded by Renfrewshire Local Employability Partnership, Apt is offering support to employers in the area, helping them build capacity to attract recruit and retain disabled people in their workforce.
