28 October 2025: Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has secured a new dedicated storage unit at Hillington Park, marking a major step forward in the charity’s continued growth.

The 3,950 sq ft unit will support the charity’s expanding retail arm, which has seen a sharp rise in furniture and clothing donations in recent years. The new facility will be fully operational in November helping to improve logistics, boost retail efficiency, and create more volunteering opportunities across Glasgow.

Kirsten Watson, CEO of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “As a local charity with a growing footprint across the city, this space will offer an incredible opportunity to develop our trading presence and deliver greater impact. An opportunity of this kind allows us to reduce costs, engage more supporters, and ultimately do more for the families we serve. The space is incredible, and we’re hugely grateful to the estate team at Hillington Park and Fraser’s Property for their generosity and enthusiasm in supporting our work. I would also like to express our gratitude to Atif Ali, trustee of Crossbasket House, for making the partnership possible.”

In November 2024, Crossbasket House – which provides free, on-site accommodation at the children’s hospital for the parents and carers of seriously ill children – joined the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity group. Working together has generated numerous benefits for the charities, and created exciting opportunities to increase the scale of their activities.  It was thanks to this partnership that the opportunity to engage with Hillington Park and Frasers Property arose, following the generous support of Crossbasket House trustee Atif Ali whose business is based on Hillington Park.

Lisa McAlinden, Hillington Park Estates Manager added: “We are delighted to continue our support for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.  This comes on the back of the fundraising drive I’ve led which has raised over £14,000 for GCHC so far this year and I’m so grateful for the generous support of lots of people who work on the estate, companies that are based here, many of our suppliers, and friends. We became aware of GCHC’s storage needs and were able to accommodate that through a flexible licence arrangement which will also enable the landlord to mitigate their empty rates liability. It’s great news for everyone involved!”

Hillington Park, which is Scotland’s largest industrial estate, is home to over 500 organisations employing over 8,000 people. It is located just two minutes from J26 on the M8 motorway, seven miles west of Glasgow’s city centre and just three miles from Glasgow International Airport.
