Olden Goldies launch new coffee shop and hub
Date Posted: 22 May, 2025

Since starting out 4 years ago Olden Goldies have grown and grown as you can imagine… sadly, there are a lot of lonely older people out there!
Barbara Davey founder of Olden Goldies had a vision way back of a meeting place for our companions and their olden goldies, especially in the winter months and a few weeks ago that vision came to fruition. Barbara commented:
We’ve opened a coffee shop/hub (sit in or take away) and as the description suggests it is open to anyone passing. We’re lucky enough to have an area at the back that is available for activities and we also plan to run our own small workshops as we have a companion team with many talents.
Our coffee shop/hub named after my parents, Soutar’s, is at the bottom of Well St, on the corner of Arthur St and just up from Underwood Rd. There’s plenty of parking and you’ll always find a warm & friendly welcome from our team. We have some games available too for the olden goldies and some Memory Lane books for everyone to look at. Our companion team are Dementia Friends so you need never worry about awkward moments.
We’re keeping the menu simple with hot rolls, cold rolls, toasties & paninis. We serve freshly roasted coffee and that all important cake. Our main focus of course is the social aspect.
We’re currently open Mon to Fri 8.30 till 2pm but watch out on Facebook for our later events being held in the afternoon.
